Would you like to get well? John 5:6
We're Here to Listen and help you get free from anxiety, depression or substance use.
Our experience enables us to offer effective outpatient, individualized care using a body, mind and soul approach through biblical principles. We treat a number of mental health disorders and our belief is that without hope, any issue is very difficult to overcome. Hope comes from knowing the truth and truth only comes from one place and that is God in Christ. The Well is a place that offers the opportunity to help you find hope and help for a full life by exposing you to the mental, physical and spiritual truths that have the power to set you free.
Our focus is to help individuals, couples, teens and families heal, energize and become aware of their inner strengths and past traumas. Our success has been in helping you become honest and transparent in your mental health recovery and not continuing to believe old internal lies. We all make mistakes in life and fall short and shame does not have to be your permanent name or place. Exposing lies and misconceptions about who you are and whose you are and especially knowing you are loved, are key to healing and becoming a whole person.
We promise to be there for you every step of your journey. Our goal is to help you grow and use your struggles to heal from pain, and move forward to where you want to be in your life. Living fully, mentally, physically and spiritually can be your truth with the right kind of help. If you are a Christian, God should be a major part of your counseling sessions and we are very comfortable and competent incorporating scripture into your counsel as well as helping you apply it in a way that is real and practical in your daily life.
Depression, fear and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions we can experience at some point in our lives. Through mental, physical and spiritual counseling, we focus on the whole person and not just the parts. Through professional counseling, coupled with biblical truth, we are able to help you recover motivation, perspective and the joy you once had or never did.
When it comes to recovery, The Well has years of experience and believes that drugs are not the only kind of life-controlling problem. Anything a person puts before God in their life, who is the real solution, can be an addiction. We are here to help you with your recovery as well as the underlying issues that lead you toward use. Take the time to ask yourself, do you want to be controlled by lies for the rest of your life or be radically moved into a new life by truth? The choice is yours.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic memories and events. Anxiety, fear and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger from post-traumatic events. We can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing into new life and purpose.
Relationship counseling can be beneficial to couples who are looking to strengthen their emotional connection in all stages of their relationship. Therapy sessions are held together and individually, giving both a supportive place to discuss issues and solutions to better strengthen their relationship or marriage. Focus on a God-centered relationship or marriage is essential to the cohesive bond necessary to navigate the ups, downs and changes that go on throughout every marriage, whether it be inside or outside forces that try to destroy it. Working through these changes, putting God first, couples move from a self-focused relationship to a purpose-focused one.
The Well works with teens 15 and up but a major part of working with teens is that the parents agree to be part of the counseling sessions with and without the teen. Oftentimes, there are issues or parenting styles that need to be adjusted to help the teen navigate growing up. Sometimes issues are normal and environmental and sometimes within the family structure there are habits and misconceptions that require adjustment. The goal of this type of counseling can have results that last a lifetime and not just in crisis-based situations. Come open-minded and see what God can do to change generations of dysfunction and help solidify a healthy family model for years to come.
Paul Ammendola is not only the President/CEO of The Well but also a dedicated, caring counselor with over 15 years of experience in Christian counseling, mental health counseling, marriage, teen, family and addiction counseling as well as working with the formerly incarcerated both in secular and Christian environments. As a licensed clinical social worker, he has learned the art of integrating multiple psychotherapy models blended with spirituality through Christian principles. Paul is also the former Substance Abuse Director at HealthCare Choices and former Executive Director and Co-Builder of Bridges of New York. He has been a leader and innovator in New York, raising the bar on counseling and housing programs, bringing it to a new, respected standard since 2003. He is also a member of the Nassau, Orange, Queens and Kings County Reentry Task Forces, and has worked closely with the New York State Department of Corrections at the State and County level since 2003.
Paul has been a successful business owner in multiple areas, from music to counseling, since 1995. He continues to seek innovative ways to help people live free, hopeful and productive lives in an intensely challenging world filled with so many different and confusing paths. Having a business background and education combined with music, finance and counseling makes for the successful, creative driving force behind the God-given vision of a brand new model of help at The Well.
In the summer of 2012, founding members, Paul Ammendola (lead vocals, keys) and Mark Phillips (lead guitar, vocals), teamed up with close friends, Michael Perrone (guitar, vocals) and John Foote (drums, percussion) to provide music for a ministry event. As they delivered their eclectic blend of soul-baring vocals, crunching rock-n-roll guitars, and tasteful grooves, the audience quickly realized that they had experienced something very special. After a number of other well-received events, Jaime Moore (bass guitar) was added to finalize the line-up. With the band fully formed, their repertoire quickly grew, as did their popularity. Now -- with an ever-growing fan base -- Red Words aims to further expand their audience. Red Words released their highly anticipated self-titled CD in October 2014, exemplifying their original sound (an effective hybrid of edgy rock, R&B, pop, gospel and soul). This rock band, however, also has a message and it’s one the world desperately needs to hear: God Loves You (no matter where you are or what you’ve done). It’s easy to get discouraged in today’s world of stress and social clutter. It’s easy to lose hope. “Our music is about finding joy and hope in a dark world,” says Ammendola. The “red words” that Jesus spoke are not only to be read, but are meant to be lived out. Music is powerful. It can stir souls, change hearts, and restore lives. With an aim to do just that, it’s time now to throw the doors wide open for Red Words, let love loose… and turn up the volume! See more at: www.redwordsband.com

Paul Ammendola truly cares! Yes, he has all the degrees and the skills, but what makes him amazing is his genuine care and concern for his clients....and they don't teach that at any university!!! It is a rare quality that I have been blessed to find in Paul!

After having gone through many therapists, I was ready to give up the idea that there is a therapist out there for me. Then on one fateful morning, I overheard Paul speak to a group about mental health and was so touched by his unique ability to connect, his patience, his genuine compassion and how he really cares. I just knew I needed him. I thank God every day for the best life-changing decision I ever made. Paul was my rock through some ugly times and has generously gone above and beyond with his time and spirit. He challenges my thoughts with love and respect, is down to earth and never once judged me. But what I love most is that he walks his talks. His commitment to truth and his unwavering sense of purpose and spirituality, his passion for helping and healing is truly inspirational. Paul's counseling is a gift for those who are fortunate enough to be under his care.

Since having Paul as my therapist and spiritual guide, I’ve learned lots of stress and anxiety coping skills as well as triggers and behavioral problems caused by my early childhood experiences and how I can recognize them and use my tools to no longer react but instead think and analyze. Is this the behavior I want to continue and pass down to my children? Paul is a wonderful listener and very influential in making positive strides in changing habits into examples to change my life for the better. I’m thankful everyday for him and his words and patience helping me thru some of the most difficult times in my life.

My experience with The Well Christian counseling has been very helpful with all my issues. My counselor offers great tools to help me include scriptures from the bible. Tools like how to let go off things that are affecting me. How to tap into my faith, trusting God etc. I am pleased with everything, my life is no longer the same. I see improvements in my day to day living I am no longer afraid, it's a blessing.

I can not just pick "ONE" adjective to describe my amazing experience with "The Well"........ At some point in every Christians life there maybe a need for assistance. Whether it's dealing with grief or loss of job, finding the "right" help for a Christian can be extremely challenging. I prayed for assistance for what seemed like forever...... then one day I saw a face book post for "The Well".... my world was changed since my initial conversation. And it continues to move in a direction that is Biblicaly based and filled with constant references to GOD and scripture that are assisting me through this difficult time in my life. The professionalism and responsiveness to my personal needs have been a blessing sent by GOD. I am thrilled and privileged to have this resource available to me. I am truly grateful to "The Well".

Struggling with sexual addiction was something that weighed heavy in my life, but I’m extremely thankful for my time with Paul, which was pivotal. His holistic, biblical approach allowed me to struggle with a deeper approach to my struggle. He asked questions that made me think and gave a perspective that carried much of God’s values. I appreciate my time with him, and highly recommend him.
